Frankanwen Golden Mink

1973 - 1982

Mink was the dog who introduced me to the world of dog shows. When she joined us I became friends with her breeder, Wendy. That friendship has spanned nearly 30 years.

Mink also introduced me to the joys of breeding dachsies. In the long hot summer of 1976 she had a litter of 6 adorable puppies as you can see in the picture above.

Ten weeks after these pups were born she won all her classes at the Longhaired Dachshund Club Championship Show. She also took me to Crufts the following year.

When she was 8 years old she developed diabetes insipidus and a year later I lost her to cancer.

Mink taught me so much I will be forever in her debt.
